| CERF is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization created by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and headquartered in Washington, D.C. with regional offices in Africa, Asia, and Europe, as well as project offices in India, the Philippines, China, and Latin America. CERF began operation in 1989 to bring together diverse groups within the civil engineering community to “facilitate, integrate, and coordinate” common solutions to complex research challenges facing the design, construction and environmental industries. CERF operates innovative technology evaluation centers in the areas of highways, public works, the environment, and buildings to help industry expedite the transfer of innovation into practice. CERF's affiliate, the International Institute for Energy Conservation (IIEC), works to accelerate the global adoption of sustainable energy policies, technologies, and practices that foster environmentally and economically sound development. |
